PIAA Districts & Regionals
Some good...some not

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) hosts a number of high school tournaments through the school year. Late Winter finds us heading into the District and Regional events. Spring Grove is in District III and the Eastern Region of Pennsylvania and in February I participated in two individual events and one team event.

PIAA District III Individual Tournament
at ABC Lanes North, Harrisburg PA

The top male and female bowlers in District III met at ABC Lanes North for a 5 game qualifier and stepladder finals. Many of my good friends and fierce competitors were in attendance.

In qualifying, I finished in 4th place with a +117 after 5 games and made the cut for stepladder finals. Unfortunately, I had a subpar stepladder first game at 177 and finished the event in 6th place. What a great day it was. Very grateful for coaches Jay Baker and Brooke Mezaros for being there for this great day!!!

Finished in 6th place with a lot of great bowlers including the state high school champ, Gavin Courtney.

PIAA Singles w/Jaxon

On Friday the PIAA hosted a singles tournament for the top 144 bowlers in the eastern part of the state. Jaxon Kohler and I were the only bowlers to qualify from Spring Grove, and we're both West York Students!!

Neither Jaxon or I found our marks on this date. I finished with an 895, or -105 for 5 games. Was a tough day on the lanes, but we got to see lots of our friends from the eastern part of the state.

Again, coach Jay Baker was with use for the entire day and we're so grateful for his guidance and support.

And a special shout out to my buddy Matthew Wenger for taking the

individual singles title for this year!!

PIAA Team Event

On Saturday, the team event was held also at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster PA. The top 36 high school teams were invited to compete with the top 6 moving on to a stepladder final.

The Rockets did a good job throughout the day, but the pins didn't fall for us as we had hoped. We finished in 19th place. Again, we had both coach Jay and Coach Brooke with us for the day.

Congratulations to our friends from Eastern York High School who were the only team from the York/Adams league to make it to states.
